Slow Down and Enjoy Life

While watching a candy commercial where the actress enjoyed her chocolate candy slowly and intently, it caused me to ponder life.

Why are we always rushing through everything? Why have we become such a community of people who reward fast, faster and fastest? Will we learn to enjoy life beyond vacation?

I will take my cue from the actress on the commercial… I will slow down and smell the roses, eat my ice-cream slowly and treasure every moment that I am alive.

You Can Do It!!

I am a born educator.

I have always had a love of learning and a passion for events and I now have the opportunity to do all that I love.

Isn’t that what it’s all about?  If you have the chance to do something you love and help people at the same time, then I say go for it.  Too often we worry about what other people will think or say about a decision that we have made or how we choose to do something. We then allow ourselves to be held back and ultimately set back from our original goal.

Stand firm behind your decisions and remember that what is for you in this life cannot be changed by anyone else’s thoughts or actions.

Sometimes those same people trying to block you,

will inadvertently do something to help you move closer to your dream!

Find time in your day to breathe and say something nice to someone.  Make a step into your future and don’t look back.  If you step in a puddle, dry your foot and keep it moving.

Stay strong, stay encouraged and as always… KEEP IT SEXY!

Season of Opportunity

Happy Summer Everyone!

With the new season comes new opportunity.  A new chance to be a better person, a better employee, a better spouse, etc.

Take stock in yourself and celebrate the things you do right, change the things you do wrong and do the things that you’ve been dreaming of!

Perform acts of random kindness, RANDOMLY.  Don’t hesitate and attempt to measure how you will benefit from it.  This thing called life is bigger than you and when we begin to PAY IT FORWARD, others will too.  Even if they don’t, it doesn’t matter… you did it and have helped to change the world.

Find a reason to laugh everyday and when you’re done reading, give someone a compliment… you’ll feel so good inside as their face brightens with a smile!

Excited and Motivated

It has been quite a few days since my last post.  I’ve been a little busy and quite frankly I haven’t felt like I had anything great to say.

You know the old adage, “if you don’t have anything to say…”

I am however very pleased with the turnout of the summer session for the Special Event Planning course that I have the pleasure of instructing.  The students that have honored me with their presence are excited and motivated to get more involved in not only the event industry but in taking control of their business lives and stepping out on their own.

I am happy to be involved in their development.

As I have stated in the past, competition doesn’t scare me; it’s just the opposite.  I am motivated to do more and go further in this industry and build a stronger foundation.

I tell my students, when they get that $1,000,000 client, CALL ME.  I’ll work for them… no problem.

Have a very happy holiday.

Get some rest and remember those who served and died for our country; not just 30 years ago but 30 days ago!

Keep it Sexy!

From the Altar to the Grave

I found something interesting and thought I would share.

I had known for some time now that Costco, the bulk warehouse, sold coffins (did you know that)?  However, I recently learned that they are offering WEDDING GOWNS at a discounted rate.

Costco has truly become a one stop shop for everything life!  I am, by no means for or against the bulk distributor; I am however wondering who their target market is?  I am sure that they have done the research;  I think it would be interesting to see how many people, while shopping for mayo and paper plates, will pop over to the wedding dress aisle and pick up a gown.

Just wanted to share. Think happy thoughts!

AOT Events

Hello world!

Welcome to AOT Events!   Please allow me to introduce myself…

Over the years, I wondered if it was possible to exist and succeed in the event world if you didn’t conform to the “normal” attitudes and behaviors of event and wedding planners (vendors).  For example, I’ve never been much into cliques and I’m not very “huggy”.  In the beginning, I tried to be; I wanted to fit-in with what seemed liked the norm.  As time passed, I realized that this approach was not working for me.  I have always been true to myself and this area of my life was not going to be any different.

I have had the opportunity to get to know some very genuine people in the industry and I’ve made the choice to be an industry leader by helping  to guide others through this vast, sometimes overwhelming land of planning events.  I do this with no fear of competition… I actually welcome it.

Bring your A-GAME because I’m certainly bringing mine!

I have decided that I can be successful by being myself.  I am a very personable, friendly and caring person; I don’t do well with small talk (I say what needs to be said and then I shut up).  I enjoy helping people and I value the time that I get to spend with my family.  I don’t speak my mind as often or in the same manner that I used to (blame it on maturity).  I appreciate everything that life sends my way and I always come out on top!

I also know that there are brides that are excited to the 150th degree about getting married but they too are not the typical “fluffy” bride.  Maybe you just need someone who is as streamlined as you are.  That’s me!

Streamlined and Sexy Events (hey I like that)!

Now that you know me, learn a little about the blog…

I intend to give you some real talk about life and the things that interest me (and hopefully YOU).  I’ll post pictures, links to other blogs, educational events and a whole lot more.

When you see me, remember a hug is nice but not necessary.
